Join our team for a six-mile ramble through stunning scenery at 11am on Sunday 21st May, as they explain more about partnership work to reverse 200 years of damage to the iconic Peak District National Park uplands.

Our MoorLIFE project worked to protect almost 2,500 hectares of Peak District and South Pennine moorland (roughly the size of 3,500 football pitches) between 2010 and 2015. Now, we’re continuing vital works across the South Pennine Moors Special Area of Conservation with the MoorLIFE 2020 project, supported by the EU LIFE programme.

The route, starting at the Moorland Centre in Edale, will follow Grindsbrook – a pathway of fairly rocky terrain – so sturdy footwear is a must. Due to the bird breeding season and so not to disturb ground nesting birds in the peaty blanket bog, the walk will remain on public path/bridleways.

Walk participants are invited to have a go at ‘Sphagnum slinging’ – throwing tiny beads of Sphagnum moss into the moorland, to join the revolution and help conserve the incredible uplands for future generations.

The walk will start and finish at the Moorland Centre in Edale, where Moors for the Future Partnership staff will be hosting a stall to meet and chat to visitors about the Partnership’s fundamental work.

Limited places are available to take part in the guided walk. It is free to attend but registration is necessary and places are available on a first come, first serve basis.
