Investing in the future of peatlands
Nature is business-critical infrastructure. Investing in peatland restoration with Moors for the Future Partnership can offer multiple benefits to businesses, financers and investors. Peat offers nature finance options from a wealth of ecosystem services produced by peatlands set on a trajectory to a healthy condition.
We deliver restoration across the Peak District and South Pennine Moors, a landscape of high, peaty plateaux surrounded by deep valleys, reservoirs and major northern cities of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.
The Value Proposition
When you invest in peat bog restoration, you invest in water storage, quality and natural flood management at source. These peatlands need rewetting, so this investment will have the compound benefits of improving habitats for biodiversity, reducing carbon emissions from high-carbon peat soils, reducing wildfire risk, improving soil health and sequestering carbon.
Add to this the benefits to society of thriving natural habitats in iconic locations such as Kinder Scout, Bleaklow and the Eastern Moors, visited and loved by millions of people every year, the health benefits of access to nature and contributing to the rural economy. Working with Moors for the Future Partnership will help build resilience in the landscape, surrounding communities and the businesses they support.
