Author: Moors for the Future Partnership, Sam Dixon
Publication Date: 10 October 2019
Summary: Risk of sustained ignition mapping for the Peak District National Park. Report - longer read.
Description:
Moors for the Future Partnership has produced a map to show the risk of ignition of wildfires in the Peak District National Park using the latest ignition data from its wildfire database. Wildfire distribution has changed through time. Distribution of wildfires from 2009 onwards show clear differences to wildfires from 1976-2008 (Figure 1). Higher risk areas are located around the moorland fringe, particularly in easily accessible areas close to population centres.
