MoorLIFE Learning
Working on the principle that people are unlikely to value and therefore take care of what they don’t know about or understand, MoorLIFE also contains activities designed to raise public awareness of the issues surrounding the loss of healthy moorland and the work now being undertaken to redress that loss.
These activities are integrated, but fall into three strands:
1. Putting life back in the South Pennines – the history story
Looking at forces shaping the South Pennines, the first theme examines who and what has lived, worked and played there, and the impact effected by these on the landscape we see today.

Rock Art at Gardom's Edge
2. Protecting life in the South Pennines – the fire story
Fire plays a central role in the moorland ecosystem. This theme examines the role it has and will continue to play in shaping the past, present and future of the Pennine moorland.

Controlled heather burning
3. Promoting life in the South Pennines – the shared story
Dissemination of the project’s outputs are a vital element in this bid. This website will be a primary tool in this delivery. In addition, the provision of a seminar/conference series will complement knowledge transfer between practitioners, policy makers and relevant professionals.
Traditional and new media such as web-based and downloadable interactives will be utilised to engage a wide range of audiences.
