Moorland Research Forum

| Annual Conference | Research Day | Research Funding

The Moorland Research Forum acts as a discussion and meeting space for scientists and practitioners in the Peak District National Park. We disseminate information though this web site, the library and research suite at the Moorland Centre, publications, annual conference and research day. More

Moorland Centre research suite

The Moorland Centre at Edale opened to researchers and the general public during September 2006. The centre holds a research suite with a library and a GIS computer to explore our database. A small meeting room at the new centre can be booked for discussions or as an occasional base for fieldwork or to use our resources.

Moorland Library

Our specialist moorland library is currently being developed and a searchable database of titles will be available on this web site. Any contributions to our library or database such as reports and reprints of journal articles are very welcome. Our database, including extensive datasets from our partners and new datasets from our surveys, will be accessible and available for non-commercial use subject to our data application procedures. Visitors welcome by appointment.

Research Notes and Reports

We have produced a series of research notes and research reports in order to disseminate the results from our surveys. These are available as free downloads from the Publications page of this site.

Annual Conference - back to top

Since its conception in 2003, Moors for the Future have held an annual conference to bring together academics and professionals to discuss and share best practice with regards to moorland research and how to take this and future ideas forward.

Information from the conferences is available below. Please contact us if you require additional information on any of the conferences or workshops.

Research Days - back to top

2008
Moors for the Future’s fifth Research Day was held on Friday 20 June at the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell, Derbyshire.

The event gave collaborators and recipients of MFF research funding over the last year the opportunity to present their research findings (view abstracts).

PDF's of all the presentations, plus some audio presentations will be available in the coming days. View programme.

2007

Our fourth Research Day was held on 16th February 2007. This event gives recipients of our research funding over the last year the opportunity to present their research findings and also includes other topical presentations. A full day of presentations made this event a great chance to catch up with some of the latest moorland research and researchers. For further details please email Jonathan Walker.

Research Funding

Our small projects grant scheme has been able to help researchers undertake applied research projects relating to the Peak District moorlands. The scheme is now in its third year and has proved fantastic value for money. To date we have been able to assist a total of 29 projects from a wide range of disciplines.
