HIGH RESOLUTION REMOTE SENSING FOR
LANDSCAPE-SCALE RESTORATION OF PEATLAND

A full-time, fully-funded NERC PhD research
studentship is available in the School of Environment and Development
at the University of Manchester to investigate the use of high spectral
and spatial resolution remote sensing for assessing landscape-scale
restoration of peatland. The studentship will be based in the Uplands
Environments Research Unit (UpERU), part of the Environmental Processes
Research Group.
· NERC-funded CASE award based at
the University of Manchester; supervisors Julia McMorrow and Martin
Evans.
· Co-supervised by Aletta Bonn, Moors
for the Future Partnership (MFF), Moorlands Centre, Edale, Peak
District National Park.
· CASE funding and support in kind
from Natural England, administered by MFF.
· Specialist training in analysis
of hyperspectral data will be provided at Manchester and training
field survey, restoration ecology and knowledge transfer at MFF.

· Start date:1st October 2008
· Applicants should have a good first
degree (first or upper-second class). A Masters degree or equivalent
level of achievement would be an advantage.
