Audio Trails - Audio Tours of the moors!

Welcome to the Audio Trails webpages - Award Winning MP3 led Guided Walks

Select one of the walks (indicated by the orange circles on the map below) and download our Audio Trails onto your MP3 player or mobile phone - For FREE!

The innovative, award-winning Audio Trails are entertaining and informative and peel away the rich history of the Peak District moors. You can also download maps, route directions, images and GPS waypoints to complete the experience.

In 2005, the first five 'audio tours of the moors' (Kinder, Stanton, South West Approaches, Combs Moss and Marsden) became the first ever MP3 downloadable audio guides for the countryside in Britain. Since this time a further eight have been added which offer a variety of styles and different length walks in one of England's most special landscapes.

You can undertake the walks in your own time and at your own pace and not suffer the disappointment of finding the walks fully booked up or arranged for a day when you have other commitments.

On 27th November 2006, the Moors for the Future Audio Trails won a commendation from the Friends of the Peak District / Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) - 2006 Countryside Awards. Dan Boys is pictured left receiving the award from Lord Hattersley.

You will notice that the walks vary in the amount of direction that is given. As this is a pilot we want to gauge how much information people want. Please let us know whether you think the trail you undertake had too much or too little information by filling in the online evaluation form and help us to improve this innovative project. We do hope that you find the walks both enjoyable and informative.

We have also produced a number of podcasts that may interest you. Please visit our podcast page for further information.

Please be aware that the moors can be a dangerous place to explore and these walks are intended to complement rather than substitute appropriate navigational skills and equipment needed to undertake such walks. For further information on what essential equipment you should take on moorland walks visit our moorland safety page (click here).

We advise that along with the usual appropriate navigation equipment, you also print off the map and route directions available on each page.
