The pack supports class and field-work from Key Stage 1 to 4 on the following themes: organising a visit, Geology, Peat, Ecology, Water, Moorland Management, Recreation, Climate Change, Histories and Stories

 

MoorLIFE Learning

NEW 2013- Lessons plans and assembly PowerPoint presentations available for free. These new lessons have been created to raise awareness of moorland issues. There are lessons for primary and secondary students. Many of the recourses are usable across all key stages; including BOG top trumps cards, habitat sheets, and two fantastic videos made by young people.

Paws on the Moors Teaching Resources

A series of lesson plans (Citizenship, English and Drama) and assembly ideas can be downloaded from www.pawsonthemoors.org - a website developed by Moors for the Future to promote responsible behavior on the moors. Many of the resources focus on a fun, 15 minute animation (also on the website) about 5 dogs discovering the moors.

Field Guide to Sphagnum Mosses

The illustrated guide provides an introduction to Sphagnum mosses and is suitable for people without prior knowledge of the subject.

It also provides information on the role of Sphagnum in building bogs and how bog ecosystems work.
